Dry or dehydrated skin – how to recognize it?

All women hear almost around the clock that the skin suffers when it is dry, and some of us even feel it – as the saying goes, with our own skin. We have also heard that it is bad for the skin to be dehydrated, and that is why we try in every way to provide it with enough moisture – or at least we imagine that we do. But let's admit one thing – if you are asked now what the difference is between the two – dry and dehydrated, can you answer? You will probably have difficulty, and it is important for every woman to be able to distinguish between dry and dehydrated skin in order to take appropriate measures for her personal case.

So, what distinguishes dry from dehydrated skin?

We will make it even harder for you by saying that it is far from one and the same. Dehydrated skin is a condition that occurs due to a lack of sufficient moisture in the skin. It can affect anyone, regardless of skin type – this is extremely important. Any skin type can be dehydrated, including oily skin, can you imagine? You can recognize dehydrated skin by its dull and prematurely aged appearance, including wrinkles and loss of elasticity. One of the easiest ways to find out if you have dehydrated skin is by gently pinching – take a small part of the skin on your chin, abdomen, chest, and hand and hold it for a few seconds. If the skin immediately returns to its original state – then you have no hydration problem. However, if it "delays," then congratulations – you most likely suffer from dehydrated skin.

Dehydrated skin also comes with a set of other symptoms, such as dark circles under the eyes, tired-looking skin, itching, wrinkles, and fine lines.

If you do not identify with the description so far, then maybe you do not have a hydration problem, but you might have dry skin, which in turn is not a condition but one of the skin types (alongside oily and combination skin).

With dry skin, there is a lack of lipids in it, which makes it flaky and… well, dry in appearance, visibly even to the naked eye. This skin type is characterized by flaking and even having areas with larger patches, redness, and irritation. People with dry skin often suffer from psoriasis, as well as eczema and dermatitis. Of course, dry skin is not a sentence – you just need to know that you have this skin type and accordingly provide the right care for it, which means both hydrating and moisturizing it. This applies more to those with dry skin, while those with dehydrated skin can skip moisturizing. It is essential when using both types of products – that is, you, owners of dry skin, first apply the hydrator, and then the product that will "seal" the moisture in the skin.

In both cases, but especially for those with dehydrated skin, it is advisable to adopt some changes in your diet and routine. Include foods with high water content, such as fruits and vegetables. Carry (mainly in summer, of course) those small bottles of thermal water to spray on yourself from time to time.

Those with dry skin should repeat the same thing at all times of the year – moisturize the skin. Yes, including winter, no matter how illogical it sounds. Cold and poor air quality further worsen things for dry skin, so – hydration and more hydration. If necessary, buy a humidifier for your home to maintain normal air humidity – something most people do not pay attention to, but it is extremely important, especially if you have central heating at home, which dries the air.

And now – the products. You cannot rely on dry skin to hydrate itself, so the moment you realize your skin type is such, turn to the PURE SKIN line, created for every skin type, including sensitive and dry. PURE SKIN will restore your skin’s radiant appearance, with an even tone, filled with freshness and hydration. Its products contain super ingredients like AHA and BHA for gentle exfoliation, pore tightening, and blackhead removal – if the skin is oily, and hyaluronic acid for powerful and deep hydration if the skin is dry. Additionally – niacinamide for an even and radiant complexion, as well as peptides that stimulate collagen synthesis and make the skin vibrant and youthful.

Here is a sample care routine with products from the line if your skin type is dry:

Pure Skin Radiance Day Cream with Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid SPF50+

You already know that the day cream is a very important part of the routine, but what we haven’t said is that it is also important for it to have sun protection. Yes, even in winter!

The radiance day cream is designed for deep hydration and regeneration for dull complexion and first signs of aging. It combines low molecular weight hyaluronic acid and niacinamide to restore density and elasticity, filling the skin with juiciness, glow, and optimal hydration. Tranexamic acid in the formula has a regenerating effect and guarantees a long-lasting radiant complexion even for sensitive skin.

The high sun protection SPF50+ UVA+UVB is embedded in a silky texture that absorbs instantly without residue. This cream is also ideal as a makeup base.

Active Ingredients

Hyaluronic Acid – we already know it is like emergency aid for powerful hydration. In this cream, the hyaluronic acid has an ultra-low molecular weight, allowing it to penetrate the deepest layers of the skin, moisturize it, and fill it with density.

Niacinamide – also known as vitamin B3, it smooths fine lines and wrinkles, improves skin structure, accelerates regeneration and synthesis of collagen and ceramides. It is ideal for brightening and evening out the complexion, as well as improving its protective function against the environment.

Tranexamic Acid – permanently brightens and illuminates the skin and has a strong rejuvenating effect. It visibly reduces dark pigment spots caused by acne, skin injuries, excessive sun exposure, pregnancy, and more.

Phospholipids – contribute to improving the skin’s barrier function and at the same time enhance the penetration of active ingredients. Thanks to phospholipids, the cream’s consistency is light and fluid, and its texture is gentle and light, so it absorbs quickly without greasiness.

Use the cream every morning, and if needed – reapply during the day, especially if you are exposed to the sun.

Pure Skin Radiance Night Fluid

Since we have a special cream for daytime use, it is logical to have one for nighttime as well. Night is the time when our whole body recovers, and the skin is no exception, so here we reach for the heavy artillery in the form of a light fluid that provides powerful 3D hydration and fills the skin with density and juiciness.

This product eliminates the first signs of aging, supports natural cell renewal and collagen synthesis. It comes with a velvety soft and melting texture that delivers deep active complex of hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, oligopeptide 24, and squalane to restore the youthful appearance of the skin in just one night.

Active Ingredients

Hyaluronic Acidprovides long-lasting 3D deep hydration. In this fluid, it is complemented with the special ingredient Aquaxyl, which acts as a booster of its effect.

Squalane – a naturally derived ingredient with strong antioxidant action that hydrates long-lastingly, soothes and softens the skin, and strengthens its protective barrier.

Niacinamide – we know, but to repeat, it has strong anti-inflammatory, restorative, and antioxidant effects. It smooths fine lines and wrinkles by improving skin structure. It brightens, lightens, and evens out the overall complexion.

Oligopeptide 24 – smooths fine lines and wrinkles by actively generating new skin cells. It stimulates collagen synthesis and has a proven effect in skin repair processes.

Phospholipids – provide a silky soft and melting texture and facilitate better penetration of active ingredients.

Vitamin E – a powerful antioxidant and a super important component of care for healthy and elastic skin.

Apply Pure Skin Radiance Night Fluid every evening on well-cleansed skin, and if you want, you can also use it during the day, as it is rich in active ingredients, but keep in mind that it does not provide sun protection. Check out the other products from the line, including Pure Skin Radiance Eye Cream-Serum against Wrinkles and Dark Circles, and include what you need in your daily care. And remember, despite the similarities in names, dry and dehydrated skin are two different conditions that require different approaches. It is easy to determine which one you have – through the simple test we mentioned at the beginning. Then all that remains is to choose the right cosmetics and introduce some rules into your routine (hydration both through food and externally), and the results will be visible very soon – healthy and vibrant skin that feels good and shows it.
