Creams for dry and rough hand skin - why and which one?

дамски крем за нежни ръце

“Grandma, why is the skin on your hands so dry? Dry skin on the hands? It’s not fatal, but it’s unpleasant. The skin on the hands should be soft and gentle, not dry and tight.”

People say the eyes are the window to the soul, but sometimes just having beautiful eyes isn’t enough to be impressive. Soft and gentle skin on the hands definitely earns us extra points when we meet someone and look them in the eyes while shaking hands.

Imagine a mystical beauty with a sultry gaze but hands like a bricklayer’s – doesn’t sound very attractive! Now look at your hands and admit it – is your skin soft and smooth or cracked and rough?

If it’s the latter, welcome to the club of people with dry skin on their hands. Surely even the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood had softer paw skin – otherwise the story would have raised questions about that too.

The condition is not life-threatening, but it is aesthetic unpleasantand also unpleasant to the touch. You catch your sleeves on your blouses, your hands scratch inside your gloves, and your child asks why you scratched them while petting.

You have probably also noticed that in winter your hands feel much rougher, like sandpaper, compared to summer. Today we will delve deeper into the topic and examine dry skin on the hands as strictly as possible.

CAUSES OF DRY SKIN ON THE HANDS

Dry and cracked skin on the hands is not due to your zodiac sign or bad karma – the cause is a damaged skin barrier. It sounds simple, but it’s not – otherwise you wouldn’t have dry and cracked skin.

In some cases, the condition may be accompanied by other complaints, and it’s good to monitor them all together to understand how they interact. Dry skin is called xerosis and has several causes.

Some of the main ones are the following:

  • Cold weather – when humidity is low, outdoor temperatures (and indoor heating) dry out your skin even more.
  • Chemical agents – found in dishwashing and laundry products, they seriously damage the skin barrier.
  • Hot water – you wash and bathe with it, while your skin dries out.
  • Medications or cosmetic products – for example, serums with retinol.
  • Excessive moisture – if your skin is constantly exposed to moisture, paradoxically it loses its own and dries out. Water is an irritant to the skin, especially in excess.
  • Eczema – in this condition, also known as atopic dermatitis, the skin is red and itchy.

TREATMENT OF DRY SKIN ON THE HANDS

If you have dry skin on your hands, you have probably tried all sorts of things – lard, olive oil, various herbal infusions and creams, etc.

The ingredients that actually help with the problem are few:

  • moisturizing creams
  • nourishing oils – jojoba, coconut, olive, and shea, and in more severe cases – creams with hydrocortisone (for short-term use)

You can try restoring the skin on your hands overnight – apply a generous amount of the cream or lotion you use, then put on gloves or wrap towels around your hands and sleep like that. They will keep the cream on the skin so it absorbs as much as possible.

In winter, always wear gloves, as well as when washing or cleaning. Many people forget to wear rubber gloves during household chores – keep them near the sink, in a visible place, so you remember.

Use a humidifier at home and in the office to maintain normal air humidity, and avoid drying your hands with machines that blow strong hot air.

WHAT SHOULD YOU AVOID?

Washing your hands too often, excessive use of disinfectants, and antibacterial soaps. These products are too harsh, some contain alcohol, and the result is dry, cracked, painful skin.

KERATOLIN HANDS 5% UREA MOISTURIZING HAND CREAM

Finding a hand cream that really, truly solves the problem of dry skin is a real joy. You have probably tried dozens of creams and brands, all recommended personally by someone who felt good using them. And the result is clear – none of them solved your problem.

Keratolin is a cream specifically created for treating dry skin on the hands even in cold weather. Its formula is developed by dermatologists and works for intensive moisturizing and nourishing of the skin.

This way your skin will be able to cope on its own with external influences such as:

  • cold
  • low air humidity.

Additionally, the product protects and maintains the natural water-lipid barrier, smooths and softens the skin, all thanks to gentle and caring ingredients.

UREA

The cream contains 5% urea – a substance that retains moisture on the surface by attracting it from the deeper layers of the skin. Urea also breaks down keratin in the outer skin layers to reduce the amount of dead cells – in other words, to exfoliate the skin.

PANTHENOL

A favorite ingredient for soothing irritated and inflamed skin. It stimulates cell regeneration and has anti-inflammatory effects.

SHEA BUTTER

A gentle oil that nourishes and softens the skin – you will feel its effect as your skin stops feeling painfully tight.

RETINYL PALMITATE / VITAMIN A

It is vital for skin health and is a strong antioxidant. It nourishes, refreshes dull skin, and helps it look younger. Excessive buildup of dead cells is sometimes due to a lack of sufficient vitamin A.

VITAMIN E

Like vitamin A, it has strong antioxidant properties but also works to enhance the skin’s protective barrier and retain moisture. It has anti-inflammatory effects and thanks to it, our skin is elastic and soft.

HOW TO USE

Keratolin hand cream absorbs quickly, leaves no greasy residue, and can be used whenever needed. Always carry it with you to remember to apply it several times a day.

It is your friend that:

  • Will protect your hands from cold and wind.
  • Will restore moisture and skin so it doesn’t feel tight and painful with the slightest movement.

Finally, you will no longer feel uncomfortable shaking hands, your child won’t complain that you scratched their cheeks, and no blouse will “catch” on your skin. Even in winter!
