If you use Facebook and possibly belong to a large group there, you cannot have missed how many people complain about… hair loss. This problem has turned out to be much more widespread in the last two years than ever before, and the reason is COVID-19 and all the stress around it, which have had a devastating effect on our hair. Hair loss is a completely natural process, but when it happens at a furious speed and in large amounts (meaning – handfuls of hair every morning), we have every right and even an obligation to complain publicly and ask, “Help! What should I do?”

And although there is no universal answer to this question, a few rules of action can still be pointed out, but before that, we need to understand what hair loss really is and why it happens to us (fate, bad planetary alignment, or something else).

Hair loss is a common condition, more widespread among adults, but even children can suffer from it. Every day, each of us loses about 50-100 hairs, which, against the backdrop of over 100,000 hairs on our head, represents a small loss. Moreover, the lost hair is replaced by new hair, so the forces are balanced – in normal cases.

However, we have gathered to discuss exactly the opposite – cases where hair loss is not compensated and over the years (or suddenly) we find ourselves, if not bald, then with a significantly thinned mane. Hair loss is not just a cosmetic problem but a huge life obstacle because it affects self-esteem and leads to a lower quality of life.

Therefore, if you see that for a long period your pillow is covered with hair and you can easily count more than 50-100 hairs there, it is time to do the following analysis:

  • Part your hair in two and look closely at the part. If it has become wider, this could mean your hair is thinning
  • Look in the mirror and see where your hairline starts. If it seems that you used to have hair lower down, and now the line has moved up, you probably have a problem
  • Inspect your brush/comb. If you pull out handfuls of hair from them, you know – you have a problem
  • Itching/pain on the scalp – another additional proof that there is some cause for the hair loss you have already noticed

Causes of hair loss

This is a question worth no less than 1 million dollars, but no one is giving it to us, so we have to answer it ourselves, and for free.

To start, you should know that there are several main types of hair loss, each caused by different things.

ANDROGENIC ALOPECIA

It is usually hereditary, and to understand it most easily, imagine a bald man (sometimes – a woman). This is the most common type of hair loss, affecting about 50% of people worldwide. It develops gradually and reaches its peak when we are middle-aged and one day look in the mirror and say – “Here, I went bald like my grandfather.”

In women, this type of hair loss is characterized by thinning hair all over the scalp, as well as an increase in the area known as the “part,” while in men, baldness is sharp and progressive, affecting the forehead and crown.

ALOPECIA AREATA

What, what? Sounds like a rare animal species we just met on Nat Geo Wild, but actually, it is a type of hair loss caused by an autoimmune condition. It causes your immune system to attack hair follicles, resulting in bald patches, and in severe cases – complete baldness. The disease can also lead to loss of eyebrow, eyelash, and other body hair.

ANAGEN EFFLUVIUM

This is a type of hair loss that develops rapidly. It is usually a result of chemotherapy or radiation, and after treatment stops, the hair grows back.

TELOGEN EFFLUVIUM

This is sudden hair loss caused by severe stress – emotional, physical, shock, serious illness, or extreme stress. Sometimes it is also due to hormonal changes during pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, as well as in cases of malnutrition, endocrine diseases, or taking certain medications (anticoagulants, beta-blockers, etc.). The condition is mostly reversible when the cause is removed.

TINEA CAPITIS (FUNGAL INFECTION)

This also sounds like something out of a biology textbook, and it is – the condition is caused by a fungal infection affecting the scalp. It causes bald patches on small areas of the scalp, itching, and thickening of the skin.

TRAUMATIC ALOPECIA

As the name suggests, it is caused by excessive pressure or pulling of the hair – for example, with hair ties, clips, and other tools most commonly used by women.

How to get your hair back?

So, now that you are familiar with the different types of hair loss, it is time to find out which type you suffer from and how to treat it. If you know that the condition is due to some autoimmune disease or is a result of medication, you can control it with medical help.

And in other cases?

The truth is, there is no magic wand for this problem. Hair, like any living thing, grows at its own pace and needs time to recover, and by “time” understand at least 6 months, sometimes even a year to a year and a half for full regeneration. This is built into the hair cycle itself or the periods of regression and regeneration of hair that alternate throughout our lives.

It is enough to know that the hair cycle consists of four phases – telogen (rest), anagen (growth), catagen (regression), and exogen (shedding), and that the anagen phase lasts years, catagen days, and telogen months, to understand that when we talk about hair restoration, we are talking about a really long process!

We know how that sounds. We also know it will be hard for you during this time, but we promise that when you see the progress and less hair on the brush, your motivation will grow. In the end, you might even end up with more and more beautiful hair than before! But until then, you have to go through a tough path and follow a few rules.

Don’t torment your hair. Don’t tie it, pull it, twist it, burn it, bleach it, and generally – leave it alone. Give it the chance to flow freely (whatever is left of it) and to take the shape it naturally wants.

Eat a balanced diet. This means consuming enough proteins, carbohydrates, and fats because hair needs them, as well as minerals. Eat normally, try not to stress excessively, and live as naturally as possible.

Don’t overuse styling products, hairdryers, brushes, and straighteners. Use them only if absolutely necessary, but avoid daily use.

Switch your hair products to therapeutic ones. This is an extremely important step on the way to recovery from hair loss, so pay serious attention to it.

At biotrade, we know that hair loss is devastating for self-esteem and we understand everyone with such a problem, but besides sympathy, we offer a solution – products from our Sebomax HR series.

SEBOMAX HR

The series is specifically targeted at the problem of hair loss and works to limit the process of hair shedding and thinning. The products stimulate hair growth, restore density and shine, and this is proven by studies. According to in vivo and in vitro tests of the active ingredient Baicapil™, using the products from the series reduces hair loss by 60% in three months and leads to an 18% increase in hair density.

Every hair care routine starts with the shampoo. In this series, its task is to stimulate hair growth, increase its density, and strengthen the hair root. It does this flawlessly thanks to its sulfate-free formula, which incorporates several active ingredients – Baicapil™ complex, rosemary extract, caffeine, wheat proteins, and vitamins.

It is suitable for hair loss after COVID-19, after pregnancy and childbirth, patchy hair loss, after hair transplant procedures, and scalp mesotherapy. It restores hair density and strength, limits hair shedding, thickens hair, and generally – reduces hair loss. It contains no silicone or any irritating ingredients like parabens and sulfates, does not grease or weigh down the hair. It can be used daily.

It is recommended to combine it with the stimulating tonic from the series, which has the same ingredients and provides additional quality care for the hair, and the cherry on top comes in the form of Capsules for fast growth and achieving the best results. The dietary supplement is a natural addition to cosmetic care and provides the synergistic action of several ingredients (L-cysteine, biotin, etc.) that care for the weakened immune system and counteract hair loss.

The stimulating gel for circular hair loss is also a great additional care for men and women suffering from hair loss. It provides generous doses of capsaicin and menthol and is suitable for all cases of thinning hair and for small areas on the beard in men. Its action is proactive – it activates the natural life cycle of hair growth, improves scalp microcirculation, and enhances hair density and thickness.

And finally – yes, no one says it will be easy. Or fast. But this is your hair, your self-esteem, your body, and you must know that the fight for them is worth it. By applying all the listed measures, you will be confident that you have done everything necessary to regain healthy hair, and when that happens – because it will happen – you will feel simply wonderful.
